Creart Collective CIC
Creheart Community Hub is headed by Marlene Fortes, an MSc in Dance Science and in training movement psychotherapist originating from the Cape Verdean islands.
The project was established in 2015 offering creative arts-based interventions allowing Black people to explore identity issues and develop strategies to improve self-esteem and wellbeing practices. Under these initiatives Creheart was able to underpin health and social inequality supportive network with the aim to led Black people in Dudley to live a positive and healthy life.
All our activities are free of charge, we offer daily workshops and drop-in services for people (aged 4-70), including:
1. Dance intervention workshops for young people creating positive self-esteem and identity strategies to improve mental health and provide opportunities for performances and financial literacy.
2. Music interventions providing access to logistical resources, mentoring and online platforms to facilitate business planning and showcase performances.
3. Arts and Crafts based on recycling and up-cycling, sign-posting Black migrants and socially excluded to health and wellbeing facilities providing ‘mindfulness’ approaches for those impacted by the Pandemic and the ‘poverty cycle.
4. Dance movement therapy supports those processing traumatic emotions.
5. Community Celebrations – cultural events liaising with agencies showcasing diversity, inclusion and promote collegiate relationships.
